Am I the only one that thinks Nextdoor has gone over to the dark side? When they came to my neighborhood here in Seattle (Queen Anne) it was a wonderful idea that actually served a very useful purpose of connecting neighbors. It was virtually advertising free and we did not have to pay for it. I know....nothing is free but it can be almost free, can't it?
The local posts by individuals has declined over the last couple of years as very obnoxious picture ads have overwhelmed them. Some are local sponsored ads and some are national corporation ads that tend to repeat endlessly. I counted some this morning: For You: 23 real posts, 34 ads, 2 beggars. Most Recent: 40 posts, 43 ads, 2 beggars. (I included the beggars (help me pay my rent etc) just because they are just as irritating as the ads).
I am hoping that SeattleOnly.com can be a practical virtually free true local place we can commune our local interests without outside interference. We shall see.
