  • Am I the only one that thinks Nextdoor has gone over to the dark side? When they came to my neighborhood here in Seattle (Queen Anne) it was a wonderful idea that actually served a very useful purpose of connecting neighbors. It was virtually advertising free and we did not have to pay for it. I know....nothing is free but it can be almost free, can't it?
The local posts by individuals has declined over the last couple of years as very obnoxious picture ads have overwhelmed them. Some are local sponsored ads and some are national corporation ads that tend to repeat endlessly. I counted some this morning: For You: 23 real posts, 34 ads, 2 beggars. Most Recent: 40 posts, 43 ads, 2 beggars. (I included the beggars (help me pay my rent etc) just because they are just as irritating as the ads).
I am hoping that SeattleOnly.com can be a practical virtually free true local place we can commune our local interests without outside interference. We shall see.

It was discovered that 80% of all residential plumbing work was performed by unlicensed plumbers in Washington State in spite of the law requiring a license. A complaint by a local plumber to his state senator resulted in a bill getting into senate hearings that would have made it possible for the regulatory agency and the consumer to spot the fraud at the advertising level.
In spite of the fact that at least 2.2 BILLION dollars is involved, there was no support for the bill that would have protected the licensed plumber and the homeowner from scam artists falsely advertising.licensed services. There was great well funded opposition to the bill however.
It became apparent that our legislative process is moved by the money interests.not on the merit or need for consumer protections.
Out of frustration, Evan Conklin produced this animation hoping that the public will notice that they are the victims of a very big bait & switch scheme that is redefining an entire industry (residential plumbing service and repair) as a sales and marketing hustle.

  • I have an idea. I personally would like a place to commune with others of a like mind. Apparently, they are hard to find...but I don't believe it. I know I'm not alone thinking the world has gone crazy. I'm not a Democrat neither am I a Republican. I like to think of myself as a liberal, which is understandable as I grew up during the '60's in San Francisco. But...the definition of the word Liberal has changed over time like many words used politically today.
Does anybody else out there concern themselves with issues that have actually been worked on and thought about beyond accepting at face value what the TV, social media and political parties imprint upon our brain?
This website could be the beginning of a beatific relationship. Maybe. Care to comment?
